Galatians 1:6-9, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
I marvel with the Apostle Paul, that professed Christians today have so easily been removed from the truth of the Gospel. I enjoy listening to Alexander Scourby read the Bible. As I lay down with my eyes closed, listening to the New Testament, the Gospel is so clear. There is no mention of forsaking your sins to be saved; but rather, because you are saved. Neither is turning from sins required as proof that one is saved. Titus 2:13, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;” Notice that we SHOULD live godly; not MUST (that is works); not WILL (that is Calvinism).
What exactly is “The Gospel”? There is no need to guess, because the Bible tells us:
1st Corinthians 15:1-4, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”There you have it—Christ DIED for our sins on the cross, He was BURIED, and He RESURRECTED three days later. That is The Gospel! So where did John MacArthur get all this garbage...
“The narrow gate is hard to find and hard to go through, because it demands: denial of self, denial of self-righteousness, recognition of sin, full repentance, submission to Christ, commitment to obey Him, and follow Him no matter what the cost!” —Pastor John MacArthur, a quote from his sermon titled, “Saved Or Self-Deceived, Part One” (time: 4:25 in YouTube sermon video)Let's list the SEVEN requirements for salvation which Mr. MacArthur just mentioned:
- Denial of self
- Denial of self-righteousness
- Recognition of sin (This requirement is Biblical, you must see yourself as a needy sinner)
- Full repentance
- Submission to Christ
- Commitment to obey Christ
- Follow Jesus (no matter what the cost)
SOURCE: Saved Or Self-Deceived?It blows my mind the junk theology that is being preached at Bob Jones University today! The same is true of Moody Bible Institute. These apostate religious institutions are all followers of Pastor John MacArthur, and are not saved! They have CHANGED the Gospel of free grace into something different, an exchange of sorts, where you must forsake sins and follow Christ to receive God's free gift of eternal life. Be afraid dear reader, be very afraid, if you are okay with the garbage being taught at Bob Jones University and Moody Bible Institute nowadays. Be very afraid if you have surrendered fully to live for Christ to be saved. You don't get saved by living the Christian life, but by being born-again!
If you'd like to be saved, simply come to God as a needy sinner, receiving Christ's sacrifice on the cross as payment for your sins. You do this by faith. God can read your mind. The moment He sees that you have decided to trust Christ's as your Savior, He works the miracle of the new birth. Theologically we call that regeneration. Believe that Christ died, He was buried, and three days later He resurrected physically from the dead. If that is your only hope for forgiveness of sins and eternal life, you are saved! Getting saved is that simple!
