You Cannot Get Saved By Following Jesus

Matthew 8:1, “When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.”  John 6:2, “And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.” John 12:37-38, “But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

At the end of 'Unshackled' program #3623, the life story of David Pearson, aired in 2020, the PGM Program Director and Announcer Timothy Gregory makes this heretical statement. He states:

“Listening friend, would you like to be adopted into the family of Jesus Christ? He is the Savior that will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. That's a promise given to those who follow Him. He'll be with us in the most difficult times of our lives. But's it's a promise to those who follow Him!”

HERESY! That is the Devil's lie of Lordship Salvation! I am not trying to be unkind. God knows that I have nothing personal against the Pacific Garden Mission, or the folks who produce Unshackled, truly. But the Apostle Paul exhorted Titus (and every believer) to “rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith” who pervert the Gospel:

Titus 1:9-14, “Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.”

I have never made a penny for my online ministry since 2002. I do what I do for Jesus, because I love Him (Jesus 14:15), and I love people as God commands me to (Matthew 22:39), and I love the truth (2nd Thessalonians 2:10). Unshackled is saturated with damnable heresy! They are preaching another gospel, which is accursed by God (2nd Corinthians 11:3-4). If you listen to the Unshackled clip again, you'll hear that the announcer says the way to be “adopted into the family of Jesus Christ” is to “follow Him.” Kindly said, that is a false plan of salvation which cannot produce the new birth!!!

Judas followed Jesus, being one of His very own apostles. Yet, Judas died in his sins and went to Hell forever. John 6:70 says that the Devil entered into Judas. Afterwards, Judas felt sorry for his sins and even “repented himself” (Matthew 27:3b). Judas was a reformed man, who turned from his sinful ways, even returning the 30 pieces of silver to the Pharisees! Wow! This is Pacific Garden Mission's false plan of salvation—to be sorry for your sins, follow Jesus, and turn away from your sins! None of that is God's plan of salvation.

God's plan of salvation is that you are a guilty sinner (Romans 3:19-20). There is a penalty for sin, which is death (Romans 6:23). That includes a second death in the Lake of Fire, burning forever (Revelation 20:11-15; 21:8). That is the Bad News! Therefore, you need a Savior! Jesus is the Christ—the only begotten Son of God—Who died on the cross for your sins, He was buried, and three days later He resurrected from the dead. That is the Good News, which the Bible calls: “THE GOSPEL” (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). Anyone who comes to God as a needy sinner, receiving Christ's sacrifice on the cross as payment for your sins, believing that He is physically risen from the dead, is immediately, irrevocably and forever saved! It is that simple.

Eternal life is a free gift from God (Romans 5:15-18; Ephesians 2:8-9). You don't have to pay anything to receive it. You don't have to follow Jesus. You don't have to be water baptized. You don't have to repent of your sins. You cannot show me anywhere in the Bible where it says to repent of your sins to be saved. You don't turn away from your sins to be saved; but rather, Jesus came and died on the cross to save you from your sins. Matthew 1:21, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Jesus is the Savior! That is His job alone. You don't play a part in God's work of redemption, except to BELIEVE. John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” We are saved BY GRACE alone!!!
