Acts 2:41, “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
Someone sent me this meme that they found on Facebook and asked for my opinion. This is it!
This meme is way off base. In fact, it is out of the ballpark!
- “Your Grace Covers My Sinful Lifestyle. Faith Alone.” Like it or not, this statement is 100% biblically accurate! Romans 6:1, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” As saints we fall IN GRACE, but never FROM GRACE! Since we cannot be saved by doing GOOD WORKS, then we cannot be lost again by doing BAD WORKS. We get saved by repenting (changing our mind) to turn from DEAD WORKS (which includes all works, both good and bad alike), to trusting in Christ's sacrificial death on the cross as full payment for our sins, believing that Christ was buried, but then resurrected from the dead three days later (1st Corinthians 15:1-6).
- “Yes, Keep Sinning! Your Works Mean Nothing.” Romans 6:1-2, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” The inspired Holy Bible plainly commands every saint of God to depart from iniquity and walk in the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25). Whoever made this heretical meme is deliberately misrepresenting what the Bible actually teaches. Clearly, the meme's creator is conveying the false idea that to get to Heaven you must modify your behavior, which is self-righteous works, not grace. We get saved by faith alone in the Gospel (Romans 1:16); then the indwelling Holy Spirit works to change us as we grow in the sincere milk of the Word (1st Peter 2:2), growing in the grace of Jesus (2nd Peter 3:18), sanctified by the truth of God's Word (John 17:17).
- 1st John 3:6 and 8b, “Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. ...He that committeth sin is of the devil.” The indwelling Holy Spirit cannot sin. When we sin as saints (and we all do every day), we do so in the flesh (carnal). If we take these Bible verses literally, then none of us are saved, because we all still commit sin as God's children (Romans 7:14-25). It would be foolish to base a doctrine on a single passage of Scripture without comparing Scripture with Scripture. We read in 1st John 3:24, “And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.” The evidence that we are saved is not turning away from sin. Judas “repented” of his sins in Matthew 27:3, but still went to Hell forever without Christ.
When a believer sins, the indwelling Holy Spirit convicts us about it. God is not an absent parent. The LORD scourges and chastises His children when we sin (Hebrews 12:6-8), and this is what 1st John 3:6 and 8 are teaching. If you can sin without any conviction whatsoever from God's Holy Spirit, then something is very wrong and you need to examine yourself to see if you are in the faith.
One of the problems with these memes is that they are very limited in how much information they can provide, so it become very easy to create heresy. 1st John 3:9, “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” Nearly everybody ignores this verse; the Bible says “he cannot sin” who is born of God. Well, that is obviously impossible, because we all still sin. So, what does the Bible means? It means that the indwelling Spirit of God cannot sin. When a person is saved there is a continual conflict between the flesh and the Holy Spirit, which the Apostle Paul well explained in Romans 7:14-25, “So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin” (Romans 7:25b). - James 2:24 and 26, “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. ...For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” - Again, I dislike using memes because they leave out information. The memes creator fails to mention James 2:18, “Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.” The Apostle James plainly says “shew me” your faith, and I will “shew thee” my faith. James writes about being justified in the eyes of our neighbour by works; whereas the Apostle Paul in Romans 4:1-7 writes about being justified by faith alone in the sight of God. The LORD looks upon the heart of a man (1st Samuel 16:7); but our neighbour who cannot see our heart, judges us by our works (Matthew 5:16). Granted, this is only a general guideline. We see that the accursed false prophets in Matthew 7:21-23 boasted of their “many wonderful works” done in Jesus' name, but they were not saved at all. James is NOT teaching that works are necessary to validate our faith, which would go against the plainest teaching of the Scripture (John 6:28-29, 40, 47; Galatians 3:26; Titus 3:5; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:19-20, 4:4-6).
Clearly, whoever made this horrible unbiblical meme does not believe in Easy-Believism. They do not understand God's simple plan of salvation.
What is Easy-Believism?
Why, it simply means that it is very easy to be saved! Jesus likened salvation to simply walking through a door (John 10:9). He likened getting saved to drinking a cup of water (John 4:10). Jesus likened the new birth to eating a piece of bread (John 6:51). Jesus likened getting saved to looking (John 3:14-16). Those things are all super duper easy to do!
Getting saved is the easiest thing in the world. Since Jesus has already paid for everybody's sins with His precious blood, you don't even have to “ask” Him to save you. That's right! God is already freely offering you eternal life, and whosoever else wants it, just for the taking. All you need to do to be saved is to by faith (taking God at His written Word), accept Christ's sacrificial death on the cross as full payment for your sins, believing that He was buried, but then physically resurrected from the dead three days later. This is the Gospel (the GOOD NEWS), by which all who simply BELIEVE IT are instantly, irrevocably and forever saved (1st Corinthians 15:1-6; Romans 1:15).
“We don't affirm easy-believism.” —Dr. Albert Mohler Jr.What a fool! Dr. Mohler is openly a 5-point Calvinist, an infidel, as was his late mentor Dr. John MacArthur (1939-2025). These men are theologically dangerous, despite both being likable personalities and good men (as far as sinful humans go). Although I admire certain aspects of both men, I also loathe their corrupt view of God's simple plan of salvation.
'Have We Really Misunderstood the Gospel for 2000 Years?' (23:47 time in YouTube video)
Do you know why Albert Mohler denies easy-believism? It is because he thinks MORE than simple childlike faith is required to be saved, which you can read for yourself in this article. According to Mr. Mohler, you must also “repent of your sins” to be saved, and that is not an easy thing for anyone to do. To pressure a lost sinner to forsake their sinful bad habits in order to receive God's free gift of eternal life is a cruel thing to do, when even God Himself tells us that it is IMPOSSIBLE. Isaiah 64:6, “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” Your best (and mine) is absolute filth to God.
The ONLY righteousness that I possess is the imputed righteousness of God through faith alone in Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:9, “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.” Nowhere does the inspired King James Bible teach that to get to Heaven YOU must first reform to clean up your own life of sin. To do so is wicked self-righteousness, not the “fruit” of the indwelling Holy Spirit (Jesus living the Christian life through us) as we are taught in Galatians 2:20 and 5:22-25.
The correct Bible teaching is that you come to Christ just as you are (as a dirty, rotten, good for nothing, stinking, guilty sinner) and God saves you by faith alone in His only begotten Son, Jesus; and then as a redeemed child of God, He gives you the gift of the Holy Spirit who produces “fruit” as you obediently walk in the Spirit. So, and please don't miss this truth, a changed life is the result of the “fruit” of the indwelling Holy Spirit in you as God's child; and not a result of YOU being willing to forsake your sinful behavior to get saved. I hope that you see the massive difference fried, because it means the difference between salvation or damnation.
In this article I expose Evangelist Ray Comfort for perverting the Gospel of free grace, in which Ray teaches the same garbage as Albert Mohler, that you must turn away from a lifestyle of sinning to be saved. Watch this poor unsaved woman on an airplane refuse to get saved after Ray Comfort tells her that faith is not enough to be saved, that she must also LIVE A LIFESTYLE OF REPENTANCE, to turn away from her sinning for the rest of her life. I would have turned his impossible offer down too!
Matthew 11:28-30, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Dear reader, the inspired King James Bible teaches that it is free, easy and simple to get to Heaven. Jesus has already done, not only the hard work, but all of the work! John 6:28-29-29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” Jesus has already done all the heavy lifting for you! All that you need to do now friend, if you've never been born again, is to simply BELIEVE that Jesus did it all for you through Calvary's cross 2,000 years ago. That's it, that's all, no more!
