2nd Corinthians 8:9, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”
Our pastor at the Baptist church I attend, today taught from this wonderful text. I had never really noticed this Bible verse before. Jesus was rich up in Heaven, the King of kings and Lord of lords. Jesus didn't need to leave the lofty splendors and magnificence of Heaven, but because He loved God's only begotten Son came down from glory to die on a sinner's cross:
Romans 5:6-9, “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”
Jesus paid a debt He did not owe, because we owed a debt we could not pay:
2nd Corinthians 5:21, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
The older I get, the more I stand in awe that God created and loves humanity. Our own Milky Way galaxy in which earth resides is so large, that it would take 1,000 lifetimes (living to age 70 each) traveling at the speed of light (186,282 miles per second) just to cross it once! I cannot even wrap my brain around such a staggering figure! God is more than amazing. Psalms 145:3, “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.” Yet, sinful and ungrateful men take God's name in vain, refuse to thank Him for food and provisions, blame Him for their self-made problems and worst of all reject His free gift of eternal life. God deserves so much better!
Dear friend, now in this lifetime is your only opportunity to truly show God how much you believe in and love Him!!! When we see God in the afterlife, it will all be over! It will then be too late to prove our faith by trusting and serving Him. We won't have a chance in eternity to go soulwinning like we do now. We won't have a chance to love our Christian brothers and sisters as we do today, when people desperately need it most. I could tell you numerous sad stories about churches that I personally attended, whose pastors shamefully made me feel unwelcomed and treated me like garbage.
Kindly said, I speak of Jeff Redlin, incompetent senior pastor of Campus Church at Pensacola Christian College (PCC). When I met Redlin's wife in August of 2021, she impressed me and I respect her, but her Caspar Milquetoast husband is low-class, doctrinally flawed on repentance, shallow and woefully lacks compassion for hurting people in the real world. Religious snobs like Jeff Redlin live in their own little Pharisaical world, looking down unconsciously without even realizing it on divorced people like me, and anybody who doesn't dot their i's and cross their t's like PCC does.
Proof of what I say is that Pastor Redlin horribly mistreated me on numerous occasions, taking liberties to critique me when he didn't know me well enough to do so. Redlin knew that he had abused me, because I plainly told him that he made me feel like garbage. Sadly, I never heard from him or anybody at Campus Church again. They couldn't care less if I ever return, which is the opposite of how Christ thought. Jesus gladly left the 99 sheep to go help that 1 lamb that was in trouble:
Matthew 18:12-13, “How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.”
Humbly said, Jeff Redlin has no business being a pastor, because he doesn't care about the INDIVIDUAL. It's not just Mr. Redlin. The prevalent pompous and self-righteous poor attitude of the entire Pensacola Christian College (PCC) camp, and Bob Jones University (BJU) today, is that only the group matters.
Consider a dear young lady named Samantha Field, a PCC alumni who was assaulted by a male student. When she cried out for help to PCC's leadership, they told her to “repent” and let the criminal matter go. That is NOT the Christian way! Oh that we would have a revival in ou Bible colleges and churches today of THE IMPORTANCE OF LITTLE THINGS! Of that we would have a revival of THE IMPORTANCE OF ONE PERSON.
Jesus is the only biological Son of God. That means Jesus is God's only true offspring, who came forth from His own seed, which is the Word of God (Luke 8:11; John 1:1-13, 14; Revelation 19:13). Jesus left the magnificence and comforts of Heaven, to come down to earth to be despised and rejected of men. Ultimately, He was spit upon, stripped naked, beaten and nailed to a cross. THANK YOU Jesus for dying for a sinner like me!!!
