I have just quoted to you the plain teaching of God's Word. I found the following interesting quote from Pastor Dwight L. Moody (1837-1899)...
“Thirty years ago people did not question the gospel. They believed that the Lord Jesus Christ, by dying on the cross, had done something for them. … And my work was to bring them to a decision to do what they already knew they ought to do. But all is different now. The question-mark is raised everywhere. There is need for teachers who shall begin at the beginning and show people what the gospel is. What we need today is men who believe in the Bible from the crown of their heads to the soles of their feet: who believe in the whole of it, the things they understand, and the things they do not understand.” [emphasis added]
D.L. Moody didn't know how right he was! Today in 2021, the Gospel is constantly being questioned, redefined and butchered. The average pastor is confused doctrinally. There are a lot of theologically incompetent pastors today who ought not be allowed behind any pulpit. I am not accepted by God for what I do. I am accepted by faith for what Jesus has already done through the cross of Calvary.
“Repent of your sinRepentance is a change of mind that leads to a change of direction -- a turning from sin unto ChristMatt 3:2 - ...Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.Luke 13:3 - ...except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
SOURCE: https://www.vbbcfl.org/salvationAs you can see, just like Pastor Curtis Hutson warned not to do, this pastor cites two obscure passages of Scripture to justify teaching a misunderstanding of repentance to be saved. The fact is that not one verse in the inspired King James Bible says to repent “of your sin” to be saved. Not one place in the Bible teaches to forsake sin, or turn away from sinful ways, to receive God's free gift of eternal life. In the Gospel of John, we find the word “believe” mentioned 88 times, but the word “repent” is not mentioned even once. That speaks volumes!!! John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
