Very Few People Are Going To Heaven

Matthew 7:13-15, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”  Luke 13:23-24, “Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.”

The Bible teaches that very “FEW” people will be going to Heaven. Very few people throughout human civilization have gone to Heaven. Very few people in the future will be going to Heaven. This is what our precious Lord Jesus said in our text passages. Luke 13:23-24 says that “MANY” people will seek to enter into Heaven, but shall not be able. That clearly implies that these people will be under some form of deception, thinking that they can enter into the Pearly City, but will be denied access.

We often hear preachers quote Matthew 7:13-15 and Matthew 7:21-23, but they rarely ever connect these two passages. They go together! Matthew 7:21-23, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. This is why only a “FEW” people will go to Heaven. They have not put their faith in Christ alone, which is the will of the Father (John 6:40).

Churches everywhere today are counterfeit churches. They claim to believe in Jesus Christ. They profess salvation by grace alone. They look, behave and talk like Christians. Yet, they have not done the will of the Father. They are doing TOO MUCH! A perfect example are all the false religions in the world who ADD water baptism to faith in Christ. In theology we call this heresy, “Baptismal Regeneration.” You cannot be regenerated (born again) by getting dunked in a baptistery. Jesus said in John 3:7b, “YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN.”

The way to Heaven is super simple. It is a free gift. It is without any works. Getting saved is the simplest thing, so simple that even a small child can be saved—simply by BELIEVING! If by faith oh sinner, will receive Christ's sacrifice on the cross as payment for your sins, believing that He was buried, but three days later He resurrected from the dead, you are saved. This is “the Gospel,” meaning “Good News” or “Glad Tidings” (1st Corinthians 15:1-6). The only thing that you contribute to your salvation is the sin that made it necessary! Faith is the only righteous thing that I can do. If you add anything to this, you will go to Hell.

Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001) fully understood this great truth...

“More people will die and burn in Hell, because they're trusting too much!” —Pastor Jack Hyles, a precious quote from the MP3 sermon, “Yea, Yea, And Nay, Nay!

“Everything that's hard and complicated about salvation is God's side of it!” —Pastor Jack Hyles, a precious quote from the MP3 sermon, “Yea, Yea, And Nay, Nay!

I encourage you to listen to the above sermon, “Yes, Yea, And Nay, Nay.” It is a wonderful sermon all about the simplicity of God's plan of salvation. I thank God for Dr. Hyles, and Pastors' Curtis Hutson, Ralph Yankee Arnold, Max Younce, Hank Lindstrom, Ray Stanford and genuine other men of God, who faithfully preached a simple free grace Gospel. It is tragic that over 95% of churches today are teaching another gospel that cannot produce the new birth. 2nd Corinthians 11:3-4, “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.”

Getting saved is as simple as BELIEVING in Jesus as your Savior. We get saved by getting out of the way, letting Christ do ALL the saving. Hebrews 4:10-11, For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.” This passage speaks about salvation. What labour must we do to be saved? John 6:28-29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” Do you plainly see dear friend how everything in the Bible keeps pointing to one thing to be saved?—BELIEVING ON JESUS!!!

The One Thing That Determines Salvation (by Pastor Curtis Hutson)

I am telling you these things dear friend, because I care about you. I get so sad when I hear about famous celebrities who died, and they no doubt went to Hell. Of course, the unsaved world NEVER says that anyone went to Hell. According to the lost world, everyone goes to Heaven. But that is not what the Bible teaches. And even worse, most of the religious people in this world are hellbound. Religion is the worst thing that ever happened to this world, because religion offers people a false hope, comforting them in them lost condition. Satan's greatest weapon is to con people into living the Christian life without ever being born-again!

Another woeful evil that I see today (especially in Baptist churches today) is the Devil's lie of Lordship Salvation. Just like the crime of adding water baptism to faith alone, the Lordship Salvation crowd add “turning away from your sins” and “surrendering all to Christ as 'Lord'” to be saved. I am so sick of this Lordship Salvation mess! So also was Dr. Jack Hyles!!!

Sadly, Bob Jones University and most of their graduates trust in a perverse gospel of turning from your sins to be saved, which is not the way of salvation. BJU has adopted the Roman Catholic meaning of repentance. To “repent” in the Bible simply means “a change of mind,” nothing more. Anyone who says that a person still living in willful sin never really repented, and so their faith in not genuine and they're not saved, is a false teacher. Many people in the Bob Jones camp, and in other religious circles that preach Lordship Salvation, live in fear and uncertainty about their salvation. Look at the horrible perverse gospel that Dr. Steve Pettit (president of BJU) preaches. This is not the Gospel set forth in the King James Bible!!!

It is not that difficult to see why so few people are going to Heaven. Whether it be the Seven Sacraments added by the Catholic Church, or turning away from your sin as the Bob Jones crowd require, or adding water Baptism as do the Church of Christ and Mormons, or keeping the Sabbath as do Seventh-Day Adventists—this is NOT the simplicity that is in Christ, which is THE GOSPEL. Mankind has an insatiable desire to complicate God's simple plan of salvation. What saith the Scripture? John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

Why is this truth so hard for people to grasp? Why do wicked people require more than God does to get to Heaven? You can do what you want dear reader, but I simply BELIEVE IN JESUS. I am resting 100% in Christ, because of what He did on the cross to pay for my sins. He was buried and three days later miraculously raised up for our justification. I am trusting the GOOD NEWS and nothing more. I came to God as a guilty sinner as a 13 year old boy. I heard the Gospel preached and I gladly believed it. That is all God requires to get to Heaven.
