Just Get On The Ark

Genesis 7:16, “And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and THE LORD SHUT HIM IN.”

Why cannot men just leave God's salvation alone. Salvation is as easy as getting on the arkThe ark represents salvation. Getting on the ark is representative of one's faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Notice in Genesis 7:16 that God closed and sealed the door to the ark, so that no one could either leave nor enter. Genesis 7:16, “And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and THE LORD SHUT HIM IN.” God shut Noah, his loved ones and the animals safely in the ark. This represents the biblical doctrine of Eternal Security. Salvation can never be lost. Salvation is completely 100% of God. We have no part in God's salvation, other than to get on the ark by faith, i.e., by believing on Jesus as the Son of God, the Christ. Jesus came into the world to save sinners (Luke 19:10).

Noah preached righteousness for 120 years, but not even one person cared enough to heed the Gospel warning. No one obeyed God! Jesus prophesied in Matthew 24:37-38 that it will return in the end times AS THE DAYS OF NOAH. Matthew 24:37-38: “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark.” So many people are busy enjoying life, and caring for the things of this life, that they are not concerned about preparing for eternity. It is a matter of faith. What saith the Scripture? Mark 11:22b, “Have faith in God.”

Noah and his family didn't get saved by doing good works, nor turning from their sins; but rather, they simply got onto the ark as the Lord commanded. Likewise, we cannot get to Heaven by doing good works, nor by turning form our sins, but only by resting completely in the finished redemptive work of Jesus Christ.

“God has something He wants to give you. It is eternal life. He wrapped it in the most wonderful package you ever heard of. He put it in Jesus. People looked at Jesus. He had no form or comeliness; there wasn't anything about Him to be desired. And they didn't realize what was wrapped up in that package. They put Jesus on a cross. They nailed Him there. They killed Him. Then He rose from the dead, and He has been scarred ever since that time. If you could see Jesus today, the glorified, risen Son of God, you would find scars on His brow and scars in His hands. If you could look at His side you would find a wound there. His feet are scarred. But, say, He has wrapped in Himself a wonderful gift. God gives you eternal life when you take Him. Eternal life is wrapped up in Christ.” —Dr. Bob Jones Sr., “Things I Have Learned: Chapel Talks,” pages 222-223; Bob Jones University Press, ©1945
